2008 CDB Scholarships Recipients  

Simelinkosi

Manyewu Primary School

Simelinkosi is in Grade 2 and is the latest Champion Dream Builders student. She dreams of being police officer when she grows up. She is a little girl who loves oranges and popsicles. The youngest of three kids, she lost her father five years ago to AIDS and her unemployed mother struggles to raise them.

Nozipho

Mawaba Primary School

Nozipho is a Grade 4 student at Mawaba Primary school and has hopes of becoming a nurse when she graduates. She lost her father last year and is being raised by an out of work, single mother together with her siblings.

Nonhlanhla

Manyewu Primary School

Nonhlanhla is a Grade 7 student at Manyewu Primary School and has hopes of becoming a nurse in the future . She describes herself as a kid who values being helpful, truthful , and doing God's work. She is the youngest of five kids who lost their father to AIDS in 2007. Champion Dream Builders is sponsoring her together with one of her siblings, Nqobile.

Mqondisi

Entumbane High School

Mqondisi a 9 th grade student at Entumbane High School and hopes to set up a primary school in the rural countryside one day and help students build their own dreams too. He values honesty and hard work. He hopes to pass all of his school examinations towards Junior College. Mqodisi lost his father five years ago and lives with his mother who is not working and two siblings.

Nqobile

Northlea High School

Nqobile is 10 th grade student at Northlea High School and would like to be a doctor when he finishes school. He loves playing cricket, cooking, reading and values truthfulness and kindness. He lost his father to AIDS in 2007 and is being raised by his unemployed mother togther with four other siblings.

Andile

Andile is a 11 th grade student and her dream is to be an accountant. She describes herself as someone who values punctuality, charity work, excellence and likes working with young perople. Her father is an unemployed ex-farm worker and the mother has not been able to find work.

Mlungisi

Entumbane High School

Mlungisi is a 11 th grade student who attends Entumbane High School and would like to be an electrician when he finishes school. He is a happy guy who values honesty and kindness. He lost his father to AIDS five years ago and lives with his unemployed mother and two siblings.

Meluleki

Sibona High school

Meluleki is a Form 5 (Junior College)student at Sibona High School and hopes to become a school teacher. He lost his mother to cancer about ten years ago and his unemployed father has found it difficult to educate them. When Champion Dream Builders began sponsoring him in 2007, Meluleki was not attending school because his father could no longer afford to provide his children with an education.

Amanda

Nketha High School

Amanda is a Form 6 (Junior College)student at Nketha High School and hopes to become an agricultural specialist. Some of her values are respect and education. She is a very sociable girl who likes reading, singing and going to church. She lost her father to a car accident a few years ago and is now being raised by a single mother who cannot afford to send her to school.

Thembalethu

Mtshabezi High School

Themba just finished writing his Form 6 (Junior College) examinations at Mtshabezi High School and is awating the results. He hopes to own his own business one day as a pathologist. His parents are unable to pay for his education from the little meager ncome they get.

Mhlengi

Mhlengi is a second year student at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in Bulawayo , Zimbabwe and plans on starting his own business when he completes his degree. His family lives in the remote area of Binga and his unemployed father cannot afford to pay for his education.

Busile

Busile is a second year student at Solusi University and has hopes of becoming a financial consultant when she graduates. Without Champion Dream Builders's assistance, her parents would have not been able to put her through college because what they make is very insignificant.

Clive

Midlands State University

Clive is a student at Midlands State University . A very motivated and ambitious young man, he hopes to set up his own Investment Holding Company and become an internationl businessman specializing in corporate banking and investment. Clive lost his father a few years ago and is being raised by a single mother together with his siblings.

Sindiso

National University of Science and Technology (NUST)

Sindiso atttends NUST University and will be graduating from college this year in June and hopes to become a library archivist. He was the first student to be sponsored by Champion Dream Builders while he was in high school. With focus and determination, Sindiso has overcome great odds in his life. He lost his mother to cancer a few years ago but has gone on to be a great example to other students.

Godknows

Godlwane Primary School

Godknows is a Grade 4 student at Godlwane Primary School . He is a double orphan who lost both parents to AIDS at a very young age. He is being cared for by a young couple that was kind enough to take him into their home.

Vongai

Dayadaya Mission

Vongai is a 9 th grade student at Dayadaya Mission and hopes to go to Oxford University one day. Her dream is to be a medical doctor when she graduates. Vongai parents have not been able to find work and therefore have not been able to pay for her education.

Shyleen

Mzilikazi High School

Shyleen is 10 th grade student at Mzilikazi High School. She just lost her grandmother who was raising her and now lives in a child-headed household.
